The 2008 Tournament Rules

Teams are competing to catch the biggest 5 tuna during tournament hours*. Four tournaments with over $75,000 in cash & prizes! All teams present at the Captains meetings have an opportunity to win lots of raffle prizes.

Each event has over $12,000 in raffle items! Plus the Big Fish Jackpots*** give everyone a shot at big money!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CATCH THE MOST FISH TO WIN..!

Fish donated at each tournament wins the following:

  • Heaviest 5 fish.............$3,000
  • 2nd. heaviest 5 fish......$2,000
  • 3rd. heaviest 5 fish.......$1,000

Fish will be weighed in the whole but must be bled only and cold from being chilled on ice.            (Do not gut your fish)

We currently will be only accepting 5 fish from each team. Any additional fish may be kept, or if logistics work out with the event, they may donate at the teams discretion.

***Big Fish Jackpot of $50 per team...75% paid out (each event). Last year Garibaldi was $1,500

Tournament dates

  • Newport/Depoe Bay...July 12th.
  • Hammond...July 26th.
  • Charleston...August 9th
  • Garibaldi...August 23rd.

CANCELLATIONS....in the event of a cancellation due to rough ocean conditions the OTC Committee will make the announcement after the 3:00pm NOAA update on Thursday prior to the event. We will announce any changes to our programs using the UPDATE link on this website as well as the Salty Dog forum on Ifish.net. The BBQ will still happen as will the raffles and prizes. This year if the event is canceled we will be giving out prizes packages valued at $3000, $2000 and $1000.  So be there or miss out on possibly winning one of these great prizes. You must be there to win.

MAKE UP DATES....none !!!!!  This was put out to a survey and a majority said no. There is a lot of logistical planning and coordination that has to happen when planning one event and we rely on the support of businesses as well many volunteers to make this happen. To ask all these people to commit to potentially 5-6 weekends is asking too much.

Sponsor teams that are provided a spot in the tournaments by means of their sponsorship level will be named after the contributing sponsor.

There will be pre-tournament safety briefings that everyone is encouraged to attend. Look for updates on the Updates link.
